How it works:

*How to Get Started:*

  1. Message “Hi” and follow the prompts.
  2. Complete your medical file if you are a new patient.
  3. Click the link to make an online payment using your debit/credit card or Instant EFT. We also accept Medical Aids. 
  4. Reply with your order number or medical aid.
  5. A doctor will then consult with you to address your medical needs.
  6. Receive your documents directly to your email.

Services not provided:

Please note that telemedicine services are unable to help in certain situations including:

  • Children under 2 years of age.
  • Emergency medical conditions.
  • Prescription of certain schedule 5 medications including antipsychotics.
  • Schedule 6 medications.
  • Long term sick leave.
  • Filling in forms e.g. injury forms, temporary incapacity or annexures.

 

Other info

  • Please always inform the doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or allergic to any medication.
  • Benzodiazepines (e.g. anxiety/sleeping tablets) can only be prescribed for a maximum of 1 month every 6 months if necessary. Chronic benzodiazepine use needs to be properly monitored in-person for safety.
  • Medical aids use billing code 0130 (telemedicine consult). The rate varies between medical aids (R220 – R350).

 

Sick Notes

  • Our digital sick notes are completed by healthcare providers registered with the HPCSA and are therefore legally compliant and valid. The sick note is emailed to you. Your employer may contact us via email info@whatsupdoc.net to verify the note. No stamps are required for digital sick notes. Modifying medical certificates can lead to dismissal.
  • As per policy, a maximum of one sick note can be issued every two months at the doctor’s discretion (not only upon patient request) and around the date of consultation. This must align with other sick note policies. If you are still ill, you will need to consult with your in-person doctor for additional sick leave if required. 
  • An employer can refuse to accept medical certificates, provided that such refusal is justified.
